The monthly focus for each society year January-August
January is the beginning of a new year and what better way to start it off right than taking a active interest in the consistency of your health and wellness practices. In January, we focus on LGBTQ health and wellness within. We help fight stigmas that prevent LGBTQ individuals from having access to affirming healthcare options through our own signature programming and sharing of information on affirming care resources in our local communities.
We love supporting LGBTQ entrepreneurs and this month is the time that we actively spread the word of LGBTQ business & services. We create networking opportunities for LGBTQ individuals to expand the reach of their brand and make it a point to patronize a LGBTQ owned business at the end of the month.
March is the month that our society salutes the female pioneers of LBTQ history around the world. It is a time for us as a sisterhood to reflect on how far we have come as LGBTQ people of color and the work that is yet to be done. It is a moment for us to examine the life we are living and whether our actions are creating a better tomorrow for our future generation. Our social media campaign during March is #LBTQWomensHistory where we highlight local and nationwide icons that have paved the way for us to live with pride.
In April, our sisterhood focuses on LGBT advocacy and empowerment through giving back to our local pride community. We distinctively focus our efforts on supporting causes that directly support and affirm the LGBT community with a emphasis on the LGBT POC community.
The National Gardenia Society was founded May 25, 2015. In May we celebrate the founding of our sisterhood all month long with public and private membership exclusive events. May is the month our members examine their "Why?"- the reason they joined the sisterhood and what they wish to leave as their legacy as we continue to grow and succeed in our endeavors.
Celebrate Pride! In the United States of America, June is recognized as National Pride Month to honor the June 1969 Stonewall riots in Manhattan New York which sparked the beginning of the LGBTQ Liberation movement.
July is Sisterhood Month in The National Gardenia Society. During this time, we celebrate the bonds we share and engage in a series of activities and events that help foster unity, growth and empowerment among our members.
Where to next? Every year our sisters from all over the nation come together for our annual sisters vacation. This tradition allows us to enhance our life experience through traveling and exploring new places as the culminating event of the formal society year.
